Alpha Kappa Lambda is an academic fraternity that is currently re-chartering its Lambda Chapter here at ESU. We are a diverse group of young men who share a common goal in developing ourselves into mature individuals. The AKL Colony seeks to re-establish the strong AKL Chapter that dominated the campus from 1949 until the early 1970s. We have gained recognition from both the Associated Student Government and recognition from the entire Greek Community.
During our first year as a new fraternity at ESU, we raised nearly $350 in less than a week for the battered women’s shelter in Emporia. We sang Christmas carols at nursing homes and we co-hosted the first All Greek Prom in nearly thirty years. We also participated in social exchanges with the sororities on campus. Current members include Associated Student Government Members, the Zoiks! Comedy Club, the Student Foundation, Sigma Alpha Pi Society of Leadership and Success, ESU Track and Field, ESU Cross Country, Towers Complex Government, ESU Theatre Department, as well as many other campus organizations.
Our alumni base is immensely strong with alumni spanning the globe in all aspects of life, including the Former Lt. Governor of Kansas, entrepreneurs in the field of organic foods, superintendents of school districts, dentists, doctors, and many more professions. We hope that you will join us in this historic opportunity to re-charter Lambda Chapter and become a part of a wonderful brotherhood that embodies ideals such as leadership, scholarship, loyalty, self-support, and Judeo-Christian principles.
